The “New Eloni” school project is being developed by the NGO Kutembea with the aim of improving the educational possibilities of children in the Arusha region, where access to formal education is very difficult and therefore the creation of this type of center provides the basis for the schooling of many children.
The School is not only born to be an educational center to use, the creation of a microeconomy within it aims to generate a self-sustainable school. To do this, the complex of food production areas and a small store for its subsequent commercialization are endowed.
Additionally, they will reside here the children who are in the most adverse economic conditions and the two teachers of the center. Creating a comfortable space for them is of vital importance.
Considering the limited financial resources, the project is designed with a cost awareness perspective.
A Phasing Strategy is suggested to help guide in setting priorities; it has been devised to ensure that build-up of all the facilities is achieved in a coherent and logical way, with the ability for each phase to function prior to future phases being developed.
In this sense, the building is conceived in a simplified constructive system that allows its expansion over time and whenever fundings are secured.
